What Our Business Is

A small business posted a sign on its door which simply read, “Going out of business, didn’t know what our business was.” I’m afraid that epitaph could be etched on a number of church doors as well as the hearts of many Christians. Yes, I know, that “stings” me, as well. I believe many people today settle for far less than what God has in mind. Yes, we live in a fallen world that grows spiritually darker by the day, but we are called and equipped to be SALT and LIGHT IN THIS WORLD. Romans 12 exhorts us to not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We’re not to walk like the world, talk like the world, think like the world, nor operate like the world. Conformity may please the world, but it never is pleasing to the Lord. And is that basically all He asks of us? May I encourage you to stay the course He has set before you? Are you looking for opportunities to share the genuine source of Hope in these hopeless times? Investing yourself in someone else’s life “pays eternal dividends”. Be blessed and be one!
